More About Deja

Bio

A dreamer and creator; Deja Louve has been 3x voted by her peers into the Top 5 for ‘Best Productions’ for her showcases across the East & West Kootenay area of British Columbia, including the annual Queen City Burlesque Expo Weekender and INTENSITEASE: A Heavy Metal Burlesque Weekend. Deja was also nominated for a 2025 Silver Tusk Award for “Producer Extraordinaire” an honour bestowed by her peers in an American burlesque survey.

As a performer, she has enthralled audiences with her love of sultry blues and heavy-hitting industrial by pairing classic elegance with raw, carnal power into a performance style you’ll want to see over and over again. In 2014 Deja was awarded the 2nd Runner Up in the Edmonton Burlesque Festival’s Bunny Competition, has been a featured guest artist with IvaFiero Productions in Seattle in 2015 and 2017, and was a semi-finalist in the annual Imperial Burlesque Canada competition in 2022.

She has proudly participated in Burlesque Hall of Fame’s Thursday night opening number in 2022 and has appeared on various other stages across Canada, the USA, Central America, and Europe. In 2023 she was a competitor in the Panama Burlesque Festival with her act "Pity the Fool" the initial development of which was funded by the Columbia Basin Trust, and in 2024 Deja was a competitor and performer in the Horror Edition of the Croatia Burlesque Cabaret Festival and Croatia Fringe Festival, respectively, with her most coveted act: PIGGY. In 2025 Deja won the “Most Sass” Award at the Cabin Fever Burlesque Festival in Whitehorse, Yukon.

Her approach to live performance is informed by her background in film production. Déjà’s costumes and choreography fill the frame with high drama and exquisite detail. With an editor’s eye for pacing, rhythm, and musicality, every act is a spectacle that inspires repeat viewing.

At a local level, Deja has been presenting workshops and classes with pioneers, industry leaders, and award winning professionals since 2017 in Salmo, Trail, Cranbrook, Castlegar, and Nelson BC. She has received over two dozen art grants in order to invest in the development of performance artists across the upper Columbia Basin, while providing affordable opportunities such as the ‘Salmo Photo Booth Project’ and Weekend Intensives with The Screaming Chickens, Belle Jumelles, The Foxy Lexxi, Margo Mayhem, and the 2023 Queen of Burlesque, SamsonNight from Broadway NYC.

In 2024 Deja Louve and local draglesque Extraordinaire, LBee, teamed up to blend their knowledge and 40+ yrs of professional experience in the film and theatre industries to create Hard Leather Honey: Burlesque. Drag. Chaos. for innovative showcases and comprehensive workshops that smash the patriarchy and challenge the norm.

In early 2025, Déjà launched Canada’s first Podcast dedicated solely to Canadian Burlesque Artists: The Howling Tales “An animated experience with hoots, howls, and a bit of hell raising. Déjà Louve chats with members of the Canadian Burlesque Industry.
